Little Alf and Hannah announced as Brooke Ambassadors

Award winning author Hannah Russell and four legged best friend Little Alf have been announced as ‘Brooke Action for working horses and donkeys’ Every Horse remembered ambassadors.

Brooke is an international charity that protects and improves the lives of the working horses, donkeys and mules that give people in the developing world the opportunity to work their way out of poverty.  Over 100 million of these animals are currently working worldwide, earning an income that around 600 million people rely on to put food on their tables, send their children to school and build better futures for themselves and their families. Sadly, many working horses, donkeys and mules are suffering, so Brooke works in more than 11 developing countries, with owners, communities, service providers, governments and international organisations to make long lasting improvements to the lives of animals and their owners.

In 2018 Brooke is marking 100 years since the end of World War One with its Every Horse Remembered Campaign. Every horse remembered campaign is all about raising awareness for the millions of horses, donkeys and mules that gave their lives in WW1, as well as the millions of equines that still work around the world today. As ambassadors for the charity we will be highlighting the heroic struggle of working horse’s past and present.

Author Hannah Russell will be getting involved in lots of events this 2018 to mark their roles as ambassadors; Hannah will be taking part in the Great North Run this September for Brooke, Skydiving in summer and organising a charity dance in June. As well as getting involved with events and activities with Little Alf throughout the year.

Hannah Russell, author of the Little Alf book series:

“Little Alf and I are so proud to be supporting Brooke’s Every Horse Remembered campaign. The millions of animals who fought in WW1 endured the most horrendous conditions and it’s devastating that, right now, there are still 100 million equines working in very similar environments around the world.

“If you’ve ever loved a horse, donkey, mule or even a cheeky miniature Shetland please help Brooke’s Every Horse Remembered campaign to help prevent the suffering of working animals today.”
