Well had Stuart out today as usual doing some more ground work & loose jumping with him. Had him all tacked up as I've been getting him used to wearing his saddle & stuff. Anyway he was going really well, really enjoying his jumping and nice & relaxed.
Then my OH arrived into the yard & feeling rather brave I asked him if he'd hold Stuart while I tried sitting on him. Now in fairness to Stuart he was sat on before as my dad hd sent him to be broken last summer, before I started back ridng again, but he had literally been sat on & then let off again so wasn't sure what to expect.
Anyway OH took his head and I climbed aboard with no problems & I got OH to lead him for a little bit just to see how he went, again he walked on with no problems. Then OH let him go and I was on my own....he was a little unsure where to go & wanted to follow OH, but eventually he got brave enough to walk where I wanted him to, then we had a little trot which was good apart from him been a little behind the bit, but thats to be expected. We even had a go at some trotting poles before calling it a day.
It was all totally unplanned, which was probably better for both of us rather than me thinking about it for a week before hand & having myself a nervous wreck thinking about it. So I was very pleased with him.
