Looking to rent a field. Owner has up to 42 acres of secure grazing, easy access from the road with stock fencing and metered water. No storage, it would be up to me to put something up as long as it was temporary to get around the planning permission. There is access to hacking but how good it is I’m unsure. I’ve looked at a map and if it is where I think it is, you could get onto the downs. Haven’t been to see the fields yet, I don’t want to waste her time if she’s charging too much!
 

She’s asking £15 a week, an acre, with water on top. Also how much acreage would you want to have two horses on 24/7?

In my head I want 5 that way we could easily have them living out without having to buy in hay etc. 3 acres for winter and then 2 for summer. But that works out at £325 a month!

So realistically I can afford 3 acres - but I don’t want to go for it if on 3 acres isn’t enough to sustain two horses living out especially through winter. Half of it would be rested during the summer and then let them have the whole lot during winter. Would this work?
